It’s interesting what you say about smell triggering memories – being the first sense we develop as a child it has the most tendancy for such triggers. When I get a whiff of something that reminds me of my childhood (mostly flowers/fruity fragraces) it instantly calms and centres me, no matter how manic or flustered I was beforehand. Love it.

And I also agree that innocence is so easily lost, and it is something that, once gone, can never be reclaimed.

OMG! The way you describe it, it sounds like a full body cramp!

In my life I’ve had cramped calves a few times from dehydration while playing basketball – I’ve never experienced greater pain. I can’t imagine spasming all over. I think I would beg to be put out of my misery.

Obviously you are far more acquainted with pain, but you should definitely let your doctor know of this event.

I needed some comfort food tonight so I tried your recipe. Tiny problem though, I didn’t have all the ingredients and was too lazy to go out to the store. No macadamia nuts – but I had unsalted mixed nuts (peanuts, almonds, cashews, brazil nuts, hazelnuts and pecans) – so I crushed some up. No chunky peanut butter, just creamy – so I crushed up a few more peanuts. The resulting Peanut Butter non-Macadamia Nut cookies are delicious!

I certainly will make more batches in the future, but my variation is so good I probably won’t try macadamias.

Your academic woes resonate – I’m in the middle of doing my second Masters – and I work ft and I’m 39 and almost past it etc – jeez.
