Random ramblings #8

In another fit of procrastination, some random comments:

1. One of the things I love about blogger is word verification. I know some who are thoroughly shitted off by it, but I love it for the sole reason of the possibility of it generating a swear word. I sometimes wonder if I'm really 5 years old. Last night I was pleasantly delighted when this was generated as I left a comment:
I was positively giddy with excitement that it had "fuck" in it. Sorta. Enough to appeal to the five-year-old within anyway.

2. One of the great things about speaking in another language is that you can waste hours reading (loosely) translated webpages and laughing at the results. I confess I read some of the blogs I frequent in Spanish to have a good laugh. And to waste time. Yesterday's post (and in Spanish), for example, was particularly amusing. Instead of saying "This morning I was dragged from bed kicking and screaming by the alarm clock" it had "This morning the alarm-clock dragged me from the bed that was hitting with its foot and was screaming". Further down, when speaking about Dr Knows-His-Shit, "The last one was the one in which Doc Knows-His-Shit..." it translated it as "The past was the one in the one which to-know-his-shit of the doctor..." If you only speak English, you can still enjoy such frivolity by finding a webpage or blog in another language and translating it to English. It's surprisingly addictive. And you just might learn something new ...

4. I've been listening to the band Evermore on a loop for two days. I love a man who can sing or play guitar. Preferably at the same time, but being the realist I am I'm not that picky.

5. There is no coke in the house. I don't think I need to explain the significance of this. I have an essay due on Monday and no coke. This does not bode well.
